There are three main factors that result in 3DEO’s industry-leading low part costs – extremely low machine cost, commodity materials, and creative software design. The entire build process was designed around lowering the per-part cost of metal AM.
Thanks to the low cost and highly repeatable process, 3DEO is able to manufacture in high volumes that were previously uneconomical in metal AM.
How Does 3D Printing Work?
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process that build layers to turn a digital model into a three-dimensional solid object with isotropic properties. 3D printing can produce complex metal parts on demand with extremely low manufacturing costs when compared to traditional manufacturing techniques.
3DEO’s technology selectively binds thin, cross-sectional layers of fine metal powder using a non-inkjet patent-pending approach. The powder bed lowers and is coated with another layer of the print powder. With each successive pass, more of the object is completed until the final object is completed.
Meets Industry Specs (MPIF 35)
The durability of the metal parts created depends on the material system used. 3DEO metal machines can achieve tolerances of +/- 0.13 mm (0.005 in) in components under 200 x 200 x 200 mm (8 x 8 x 8 in). For most materials, ultimate tensile strengths range between 60 and 100 ksi. Typical surface quality is comparable to a cast finish. Various finishing options are available. 3DEO offers a variety of plating options.
