About 3DEO

The Company Building the Manufacturing Cloud

3DEO’s Manufacturing Cloud™ includes innovations across the entire production system–printing, robotics, augmented reality, advanced data systems, and a platform that manages from design through to finished product. This tightly integrated system is stitched together by software that collects real-time image data from machines, programs the robotics, manages AI integrations, and creates a closed loop feedback to enable automation at scale.

Without legacy manufacturing’s design limitations, high up-front costs, and long lead times, the Manufacturing Cloud gives product innovators superpowers to launch physical products at the speed of software.

Welcome to the Manufacturing Cloud. Welcome to the future

Leadership Team

Matt Petros, PhD

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

Matt began his career as an applications engineer for Swagelok, where he was tasked with a combination of technical sales leadership and internal infrastructure development to support a new line of business for the organization. He established a highly successful custom solutions department within the industry’s leading gas and fluid systems manufacturer. Matt later pursued a PhD in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing. During the course of his doctoral studies, Matt co-invented and designed numerous metal additive manufacturing binder jetting processes. He worked hand-in-hand with various Fortune 500 companies to help develop high-impact 3D printing solutions using the latest technologies. This doctoral work reinforced his suspicion that the majority of industries were not able to transition metal 3DP to end-use applications. With this unique insight, 3DEO was established in an effort to empower our industrial
partners through opportunistic technology transitions.

Payman Torabi, PhD

Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer

Payman is an experienced electromechanical engineer with 15 years of experience developing robotic and additive technologies. Payman earned his PhD from the University of Southern California, where he developed several innovative metal additive solutions, including binder jetting. He has deep expertise in slicing software, mechatronics, and materials development for powder metal processes. Payman has used his unique skill sets to successfully develop and launch a commercial polymer-based 3D printer abroad. The Manufacturing Cloud was born out of Payman’s primary motivation to unlock human creative potential through democratized access to advanced manufacturing technologies.

Matt Sand

Co-founder & President

Matt received three bachelor’s degrees from Tulane University in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Political Science. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force as a Communications Officer. While stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California, Matt ran a team of 23 and was responsible for all core IT services. Matt then received his MBA from UCLA Anderson with a focus in entrepreneurship. Soon after graduating, he co-authored a book, The Agile Startup, with a professor of entrepreneurship. The book was published by Wiley & Sons in 2013. Since receiving his MBA, Matt has played a variety of roles across the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He has founded or co-founded several startup companies, invested in early-stage companies at two Southern California-based venture funds, taught entrepreneurship courses at UCLA and LMU, and consulted with dozens of innovative companies of all sizes.

Marty McGough

Chief Operations Officer

Marty McGough is an innovative operations executive and process improvement professional with more than 30 years of hands-on experience applying Lean Startup and Continuous Improvement techniques to manufacturing, product design, cost reduction, system enhancement, and customer satisfaction problems for high-tech companies. He has personally introduced more than 31 products that generated over $1.1 billion in sales with gross margins of up to 45%. He has engaged in five successful scaling/turnaround efforts with companies of various sizes. In the additive manufacturing space, Marty led the Lean Six Sigma Transformation for all 3D Systems operations that reduced product costs, improved on-time delivery and supplier quality, decreased product cycle times, increased factory capacity, improved product reliability and increased customer satisfaction. In addition, Mr. McGough founded and ran his own consulting firm for 10 years, providing support to additive manufacturers and other clients to improve their operation, processes, strategy and overall performance.

Jim Golden

Vice President Sales

Jim has been an executive in the manufacturing and software industries for over 30 years. Starting his career in design and manufacturing engineering at Ford Motor Company, he worked on automotive electronics products, building and managing high volume automated production lines in North America and Europe, and was awarded a patent for an Antilock Brake component design. Jim then went on to manage design and production for silicon micromachined accelerometers (air bag sensors) and computer networking devices at EG&G and 3Com. Jim then transitioned into software sales, first for supply chain design and optimization, and then for procurement platforms. He has been in sales leadership for the past 20 years, having built and managed teams in both the US and globally. Jim has a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University.
